A Lesson On How Not To Deliver A Pizza!
A pizza delivery driver approached a house where he was to deliver
two pizzas. When he knocked on the door, the customer took awhile
to answer. When he did come to the door, he invited the driver to
come into his house, out of the cold wind and rain. He indicated to
the driver that he had to go upstairs to get his checkbook and it
would be four or five minutes before he would return.
Now the driver had been told by his manager, to never go into a
customer's house. However, because it was very windy and raining
and the customer seemed really nice, the driver decided to go in.
Five minutes passed and the customer still had not returned. After
ten minutes the driver yelled up to the customer, asking if everything
was okay. There was no answer. The driver figured that the customer
probably could'nt hear him, so he decided to wait a little longer in
hopes that the customer would come downstairs soon. Another ten minutes
passed and still no sign of the customer.
Now the driver was becoming impatient. He had two other deliveries to
make and this stop was causing him to run late. He yelled once again for
the customer, but still received no answer. The driver was now puzzled
about what he should do. He didn't want to walk upstairs uninvited, but
he thought that perhaps something had happened to the seemingly nice
customer. He didn't want to just leave. So he finally decided to walk
halfway up the steps and shout for the customer again. He did this and
still received no answer.
The driver then decided that he better call his manager. He had a cell
phone out in his car, but spotted a phone in the house as he started to
go out the door. He picked up the phone to call his manager. When he did,
there was someone or something already using the phone. He heard strange
noises come from the phone. He thought that probably the customer was on
the other end of the phone line talking to someone else, and perhaps that
was why he was taking so long to come downstairs. The driver then spoke
into the phone announcing that he was still waiting and had to leave. The
whole time he was talking into the phone, the strange noises continued and
no intelligent answer came back. The driver then spoke into the phone once
more and this time indicated that he was coming upstairs to see if everything
was okay. To the driver's surprise, a voice came over the phone. The gruff voice
at the other end of the phone said "come up hear and I'll kill you too." That
was enough for the driver. He ran from the house, got in his car, locked it,
and drove about two blocks from the house . He then called 911 and explained
what had happened.
When police arrived, they did not hesitate to enter the house. After about five
minutes, the police came out of the house and with them was the man who had
invited the driver into the home. He was handcuffed and escorted to a patrol car.
The driver was being questioned when this occurred and was very curious as to
what was going on. What had really happened in this house was his obvious question!
The officer that was interviewing him explained that the man they arrested was a
burglar. He had entered the house expecting that no one was home. Instead, both the
husband and wife were upstairs watching tv and waiting on a pizza to be delivered.
The burglar had broken in through a window downstairs. When he came upstairs he walked
in on the couple. Both parties were surprised. However, the burglar had a gun and got
the drop on the couple before they could do anything about it. He then proceeded to
tie them up using bed sheets. When the knock on the door came, the couple explained
that it was probably their pizzas being delivered. That's when the burglar decided to
gag the couple and answer the door. The burglar was hungry, so he decided to take the
delivery. He didn't have any money on him, but he had seen a checkbook upstairs and
decided to use it to pay for the pizza. Any cash he could get from the couple would go
in his pocket, but the pizza could be paid by check and he wouldn't have to give the
driver any cash. When he got upstairs, he discovered that what he thought was a checkbook
was just a planning calender instead. That's why he never returned downstairs.
The burglar thought that the driver would just leave and then he would make his escape.
When the driver stayed longer than expected, the burglar made a call to his girlfriend
to explain why he would be home a little later than expected. However, he couldn't reach
his girlfriend. The driver had picked up the phone while the burglar was still trying to
dial his girlfriend. The strange noises the driver heard were the muffled sounds of the
gaged couple and the noise caused from the burglar trying to dial his girlfriend. When the
burglar heard the pizza driver say that he was coming upstairs, he decided to scare the
driver away by making the statement "come up here and I'll kill you too." No one was actually
hurt.
Instead of leaving after the driver ran out of the house, the burglar stayed a bit longer. The driver in his haste, left the pizzas behind. The burglar stayed longer than he should have, to eat some pizza and was caught before he had a chance to leave the house.
The burglar is serving a heffty sentence since he used a gun in his burglary attempt.
The pizza driver has decided to take his manager's advice and never enter a house again. In
fact he will not wait any longer than three minutes for a customer to come to the door.
